Another day, another possible stupid idea. We’ve been toying with the idea of buying skateboards since we got here. There’s skate parks pretty much everywhere and like surfing, skateboarding seems like a must over here… providing there’s no broken bones over the next year.
We bought a skateboard each – both 70 dollars, and took them over to Sutton’s Beach in Redcliffe. I haven’t skateboarded since I was about 8 years old and I only ever rode it in my garden, but I thought I was sick. That then changed to my bright yellow BMX bike, maybe that’s what we need to try next?
Anyway, 14 years later, I’ve discovered that I can still ride a skateboard, a lot better than a surfboard anyway. I won’t be doing tricks anytime soon but it was so much fun having the freedom to ride a skateboard by the sea. It was one of those “I love Australia” moments. I experienced feelings that I could never get at home. Being a seemingly wannabe hipster, this afternoon seemed like the perfect opportunity to take the Polaroid out with us. We finished our fun by relaxing at Preece’s, a local cafe by the sea, and over indulged on cheesecake before heading back home to watch The Last Jedi!
